Customer Activity Compliance Department

Key Responsibilities

assess the legal documentation of prospective clients prior to establishing a business relationship;

review the legal documentation of existing clients and assess its compliance with applicable regulatory requirements;

verify clients’ identity and identification details, as well as their legal status;

analyse and regularly update information on legal entities’ authorised representatives, owners and ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO) structures;

verify information in public registers, sanctions, PEP and other available databases, as well as publicly available information sources;

identify inconsistencies, legal risks and potential red flags in clients’ legal documentation;

prepare legal opinions and schematic illustrations of clients’ legal ownership structures;

prepare client files for audits and in response to requests from external competent authorities.

Required Skills

higher education in Law;

at least 2 years of experience as a lawyer in customer due diligence or a similar role within a bank, financial institution or fintech company;

understanding of legal entity structures and the identification of ultimate beneficial owners based on ownership and control criteria;

ability to independently analyse legal documents and identify inconsistencies, as well as factors indicating increased AML/CTPF or sanctions risks;

excellent command of Latvian and good command of English, with the ability to use both languages when preparing and analysing documentation.
