Participating in BluOr Bank Charity Marathons!

 November 8, 2024

BluOr Bank traditionally organizes charity marathons twice a year – in spring and autumn.

By organizing these marathons, the bank encourages its employees to combine a healthy lifestyle with good deeds. Over the course of a month, on weekday evenings and weekends, bank employees run, walk, and cycle, recording the distance covered in the "Strava" app. At the end of the marathon, the bank uses a specially developed formula to convert the kilometers covered into euros to support children with serious health issues.

In BluOr Bank charity marathons held in spring and autumn of 2024, 51 employees participated. In spring, 4,404 kilometers were walked, and 2,960 kilometers were cycled, while in autumn, 4,707 kilometers were walked, and 3,821 kilometers were cycled.

As a result, support of €2,794 was provided to seven-year-old Artis from Riga and €3,118 to seven-year-old Ralfs from Ķekava. Both boys have complex diagnoses and require ongoing support.

"I am always moved by the great enthusiasm, passion, and friendly competition BluOr Bank employees bring to every charity marathon. The enthusiasm of my colleagues is inspiring, which is why the number of participants keeps growing every year! At the same time, it is especially heartwarming to see employees who, for various reasons, cannot actively participate in the marathon, contributing to the campaign with their donations. This collective involvement is truly touching and is the most direct proof of the heartfelt compassion of the bank’s employees," notes Ingrīda Šmite, a board member of the charity foundation BeOpen.
