BlueOrange recreational area on Lucavsala – one of Latvia’s most valuable projects
September 21, 2017
For the fifth year in a row, a competition has been held to recognise the most sustainable and valuable structure in Latvia. This year’s “Most Sustainable Latvian Project” nomination recognises the educational leisure area set up by BlueOrange on Lucavsala as the most environmentally friendly educational solution.
Works were entered into the 2017 competition, across three nominations – Most Sustainable Building, Most Sustainable Project, and Most Sustainable Student Initiative. 17 structures and designs were evaluated in total, including public buildings, private homes, a building that incorporates green technology in a very well thought-out solution, and ambitious ideas for sustainability devised by students.
The BlueOrange recreational area on Lucavsala was created in order to encourage families with children to spend more time close to nature while also learning new things. The project was implemented in cooperation with the Ķikši tree nursery and young artist Artūrs Immermanis from Irlava. The recreational area is a gift from the BlueOrange Charity foundation to the city of Riga and its guests.
